Juvederm™ Cape Cod and Boston – Non-Surgical Options
Many patients who call the office are confused about facial injectables and facial fillers. Juvederm™ Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ Ultra injectable gel are “next generation” hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that provide volume. They are used to treat wrinkles and folds resulting from a loss of volume beneath the surface of the skin, such as perioral lines and nasolabial folds (lines around your mouth and nose). Juvederm™ Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ Ultra products are also used to plump up both the upper and lower lips. Results are seen immediately, although bruising may last for a few days.
Juvederm™ is available in two formulations to allow physicians to tailor treatment to an individual patient’s needs. Juvederm™ Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ Ultra are used in the lower face, particularly around the mouth, cheeks, and lips. Neither product requires prior skin testing. In addition, both formulations are now available with xylocaine, in order to allow greater patient comfort during injections. These products are labeled Juvederm™ XC Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ XC.
All Juvederm™ products are manufactured using a process that provides for a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth natural look and feel. Juvederm™ Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ Ultra are the only hyaluronic acid fillers to receive FDA approval to last up to one year.
Juvederm™ Ultra Plus and Juvederm™ Ultra can cause some bruising at the site of the injections. While this bruising is usually minor, patients need to be prepared for it and should therefore not schedule treatments within a week of “important events.” Makeup will usually help cover up mild bruising. In order to minimize bruising, patients should not take aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E, or St. John’s Wort for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
